  1. My flywheel is too big & digs into the insides of the gearbox!!!

    So I reckon I need a 1700cc flywheel !??

    Anyone got one going spare??

  2. What size is the clutch on your current flywheel?

  3. Not sure Paul, I'll measure it on Monday, why ?
    What you thinking??

  4. Well it should be a 210/215mm

I was trying to ascertain what you had fitted :)

Also, what's the engine number? As 914s ran a 215mm clutch, but the flywheel was 5mm thicker!!

  5. @chancee had one for sale I think

    Or just dremmel it

  6. Fly wheel is 270/275 from one side to the other!!
Forgot to measure the clutch today

  7. I've contacted Chancee but as I don't know what I'm on about I don't know what I need exactly:confused:
I did consider using the belt sander to grind a bit out the gearbox!!
Is that not a bit of a cowboys trick???

  8.

What you need to understand is that all of the flywheels, regardless of the clutch size, are all the same overall diameter (+- 2mm)!! It's actually the clutch pressure plate that make the difference to whether it fits the gearbox or not!! :)

  9. So , I now have 2 clutches,
    One, I'm assured is a 1700 one,
Will that + my big flywheel fit?
Or do I still need the 215mm one??

  10. I need to know the clutch face diameter of your flywheel dude... I don't know what you've got until I know that :)

  11. :oops::oops: 230mm.

  12. There you go... It's a 228mm 2l flywheel... :)

  13. So now you need ideally a 210mm clutch faced flywheel

I'll have a look and see what I've got kicking around... I know I have one in that ballpark

  14. I've got another flywheel , Kat drove to Stockton & back for it.
Then we tried to fit it only to find out the bolts are an obscure size different from what is in the other one!! & the holes in the pressure plate don't line up anyway!!!
I think I now have a 1800cc fly wheel too :D:p:D:p Why not, eh??

Will try n swap it for a 1700cc one if not Paul I'll be in touch as your probably easier to get it off than Chancee!!

Although if I'd have just said "yes I'll take it" on Sunday, I could have had Chancee's here by now???? Lol!!??!

  15.

I'll have a look tomorrow and see what I've got :)

  16. Cheers Paul, but don't put yourself out too much just yet!!,
The guy in Stockton is swapping the flywheels for me, he picked up the wrong one by accident the other day!!!!!!
Hopefully have the right one by Sunday night, ready for Monday night!?!?

  17. Got the reet flywheel noo!!!
    Engine's in noo what???
Where do I start, there that much to do!!!!!!!

    I think I'll write a list??

I like writing lists :) It's like doing something without actually doing anything!!!.,:D:D
