16amp fuses - daft q time!

  1. Hi guys,
What do the two 16amp fuses protect?? Having a bit of a mare with my fusebox again and my Bentley manual doesn't seem to show them.

    Cheers in advance.

  2. Wipers and brakelights. F10 & F11 respectively

  3. Strangely, according to the wiring diagrams, they are for wipers and interior lights...

and heated rear screen if fitted

  5. Many thanks chaps, TLB comes good again...

  6. A 16A fuse protecting an interior light of around 6W seems a bit scary to me! Mines on F9 which is only 5A.

should be all 8amp(white) apart 9 and 10 that are 16amp(RED)

It doesn't make a lot of difference as they are not that accurate and a fault that courses them to blow is normally a dead short

  8. If you've got a later Bay, F9 and F10 are 16amp (red), the rest 8 amp (white). F10 takes care of big loads like the wiper motor and heated rear screen if you've got one. F9 is actually spare (as is F7), and was allocated to a "supplementary heater", likely an Eberspacher.

  9. Interesting...just checked mine again...sure enough F10 wipers F11 brake lights both on an ignition fed back coupled pair of 16A fuses. F9 interior light 5A fuse on a non ignition controlled back coupled pair, the other being F8 hazard flashers. All original wiring and DB !
