£1000 windfall

What and just fritter the rest on non-essentials ?

 

Personally I would suggest you find a local charity, a small one that a grand will make a huge difference too. The likes of the RSPCA etc a £1000 won't do as much good as giving it to a small local one.
Can you still endorse cheques over?

 

It went direct to my bank account, so no cheques to mess about with, and yes I think you're right about the minnows needing a proper boost as opposed to it getting "lost" in a big charity

 

Definitely my first thought .... Currently trying to see if there are any local organisations that can't operate properly because of lock down, and what they're having to do or get in order to carry on.
Looks like the whole SEN area is in a right state.

 

Though no doubt the parents still have the latest phones etc.

Call me a cynic. Yes there are people out there desperate, but I have a Marmitety sister who can’t get enough off the state. Uses the school to her best advantage, uses food banks but has money for fags, car repairs/fuel tattoos etc. Kids get f all.

 

If you find a nice little charity see if they have accounts registered with the charities commission. That way you can see how much gets put on good causes and how much goes in salaries.

Personally, I’d wait a few months. Clearly someone thought you deserved this money so hold on and see if you feel differently in a month or two or six.

See if you have family that could do with a little boost.

 

It’s not but food banks don’t help the kids per sé it helps the parents.

I’d rather buy I load of kids toys and take to the local hospital. Either for the hospital or for the kids to take home after the leave.

Then you need to get involved with an organisation. Give them your time/skills and see how well oiled a machine it is and then donate.

Dogs trust. I’ve come to the conclusion that I like a lot of dogs more than I like a lot of people. I’ve also come to the conclusion that a lot of dogs like me more than a lot of people.

As a charity they rely on donations for food and treats and bedding etc. Plus with no volunteers going in a lot of those poor doggies won’t be getting as many walks, so I bet they’d like a nice chew stick instead.

failing that I’ve heard rumours of soon to be launched go fund me page called “wayne needs new custom made carp rods”. I know all donations there would be gratefully received. And in this age of social media I’m sure I, er I mean they, would happily post up pictures of them in use regularly so you know your money is well spent.

 

What about a local Scout group?
Helps kids, run by volunteers and a grand would make a massive difference to a local group.

We must also remember that puppies are still being born and what with the lockdown, they are not being socialized at a vital time in their development. Also, prospective owners are not being able to collect them. I think this will cause a lot of problems in the not too distant with unruly, unwanted pups being dumped on the dog charities.
