Apparently, it’s a 1939 VW-Steyr. Found it in Prague, in the Czech Republic in 1994. It was based on a VW Kübelwagen chassis and all original drive-train. I have owned this vehicle for around 25 years, and 16 of those years I used it as my daily transport. It has since been restored and now only driven locally in the summer months. It's got Bertone's early '70s paw prints all over it; the side window is a take on the Lancia Stratos. It's a concept they did for NSU called the Trapeze, powered by a ******el engine. (Tee hee, hadn't spotted at auto-correction. Should have said pistonless rotary engine)
Actually, to give credit where it is due, it was designed by Marcello Gandini when he was at Bertone, later of course to do the Lamborghini Miura and Countach.
