I'd love to do it mate but the time I take on my own bus is cuz it's my own and I'll have it for years to come done 54k in it and wanna to triple that before I die Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You need to be fast. A mate of mine about 4 years ago had half his main chassis rails replaced, I can't remember whether it was the front or rear half, but one end to under the cargo floor. £350 labour and comsumables. 70+ year old bloke and he apologised that it had taken 3 days, a bit longer than he expected. That was drive in/drive out. How did he do it?!!
It's the bodges u come across in the process like me now complete rear end build was just a sand and paint Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The bus you started with would have cost many arms, legs and a kidney to restore properly though. I need a few weeks on mine to tidy up a repaint the bottom half...again.
Ditto for me! Horrible job doing the sills with axle stands only but I know exactly what Si is talking about... every time I get close to welding a new panel in I find another bit that needs to be fettled! I couldn't afford to pay a professional to do the job properly and if they charged for a 'quick' job it would never be done as well as it should be... #catch22 Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
A bit more done on the rear end all the lips had rotted out and the centre section cut it all out clean all rust off rust treated and painted inside and made a few bits up on my bending machine cane out nice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well had a few hours to burn so set on the other side and it's fair to say this d pillar is shagged I'll make a nice new one Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That’s worse than mine was You’ll have it sorted good n proper si Funny how one job escalates into many more isn’t it I don’t know how people manage to ignore stuff like that and just fit a new panel over the top hiding it away
Oh dear It could well be similar. The hidden bits are a nightmare unknown...but in my case it must have had visible signs for years, and well before new bits were added. I don’t know how quickly these things fall apart from rust but I just don’t remember looking at that pillar on mine before. Perhaps I just blocked it from my memory. Daisy is gona look great though hey. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are a brave man What I like about checking your thread out is that you crack on at a rate and it all looks great. I’m barely brave enough to scrape paint and sealer away, let alone cut things open I’m like a schoolyard nurse and you are a surgeon lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That'll be tricky. For me the easiest way to deal with rot from top to bottom like that was to refuse to work on them! Can you get a rear corner cut with all the inside stuff still attached?
Gonna leave it now a go get drunk and find out what's best to do with this !! But if not I'll get fabricating next week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just get balls deep into it as it wud take me years else this is a set back now this d pillar is a fair bit of work but everything is fixable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
