Fine if only the ground stuff burns and the fire isn't intense enough to ignite the tree canopy. Unfortunately Eucalypts are full of oil and so are extremely flammable.
This is a very serious question... Being honest, what’s your chances of not singeing your beard? Have you a bowser or something to control small fires, caused by debris? Just be safe.
Bernie The Bush Pig has the fire fighting trailer and 1500 litres of water for any unforeseen beard fires.
Don wrapped a wet towel around his head, just in case. Unfortunately, a neighbour reported him as a member of the Taliban. He’s being pursued around the farm by Special Forces. More news as it happens...
15 mm of rain overnight, not a lot but better than nothing plus it arrived with the wind shift and no lightning. I may be able to get a nights sleep tonight.
Was the ground around you ever green ...the grass land ...is it a result of several years of drought . Will it return . Also all the trees which have been burnt will they return and re establish , without the protection of the maturer trees ...forgive me for not being knowledgeable about Aussie fauna cycles Don ...Ewan .
Yes, the ground has been green but a couple of years of drought has knocked the grass down and it will return once we get rain. Most Australian native trees require periodic fire to regenerate and some actually need fire to have their seeds germinate. They reestablish quite quickly, usually wattles first then the eucalypts. This has been going on for millennia and the Australian bush has adapted to it.
What's a postman? We have to collect our mail from the post office................ 42 kilometres away.
I washed my work clothes this morning, for the first time in 10 days, now I'll have to go and desilt the duck pond.
When I looked up Paupong NSW on google maps and street view I was amazed how lush and green the land was with tall grass, Hopefully the drought will break soon and bring the greenery back.
From the satellite images it's probably from the tree canopy, street view was probably 4 years ago or thereabouts.
Really? I was told it was because you were as tight as a fishes bum............ that's what someone on here told me anyway.
