There not her words. I do like her for standing up for herself. A bigger statesman than that bumblef#$# Trump. But it's not a generation thing I was taking part in demos over the destuction of the Amazon 25 years ago. I think Thanos might have the solution. *Joke* It's consumerism that is destroying the planet new shiny stuff and new iPhones every six weeks
I admire the girl for her bravery in standing up and speaking out. I agree that there is climate change which is threatening to destroy many living organisms including us. But climate change has always happened and is always going to be with us - how much we have contributed to it is debatable - probably we have escalated it and perhaps brought on the effects 100 years sooner than they would otherwise have happened. I don't think we can stop it now , anymore than we can stop an avalanche once it is going downhill. Reducing carbon output will reduce pollution - but we need to decide what we need to do to cope with rising sea levels- London and New York will be under water in the near future . My town is 10 miles from the sea at the moment but likely to be on the sea shore in 50 years time ( as it was once in the past)
Does anyone understand what drastic measures need to be taken? Is it stop using all forms of transport? Is it the closing down of all power stations? Is it stop all industries? Or is it just stop feeding Bazza beans
We are doomed The only way we could slow it down is to stop having kids and stop buying stuff. We cannot buy our way out of this. Buying more stuff like electric cars and wind turbines etc only makes it worse the energy and materials needed to produce, transport and maintain them out-way the savings. Remember reduce comes before reuse and recycle.
Think it was on QI they were saying the most environmentally friendly thing you can do is jump off a bridge!
Nobody is destroying the planet! It will still be here long after we are gone! It irritates me to hear environmentalists banging on about how we are wrecking the planet. We're not, we're just making it less suitable for ourselves. Vegetation loves warmth and CO2 so global warming is beneficial to it. If sea levels rise significantly, then millions of poor people in low lying areas will be wiped out. This can only be beneficial as there are far too many humans around. By sending aid to deprived areas of the world, we are just aggravating the problem. In the wild, animal populations rise and fall as the availability of food fluctuates. We are just animals so we should be subject to the same rules of nature. It's all about the survival of the fittest (or richest in the case of humans).
I think, because sea levels won't rise that quickly, people in low lying areas will simply move to higher areas. War or a disease pandemic, especially when there's more of us crammed into the available space, is more likely to wipe a lot of us out.
Thing is I use to walk to school then cycle, we had 1TV and I had hardly any new clothes, I don't see how it's my problem, my sisters kids have a multitude of everything and get driven everywhere.
They could drill a few more holes out at sea and fill the oil wells up that are empty , the would bring it darn a bit , worst case pull the plug out .
