mindful of the fact that the nights will be drawing in again soon, and I've still got a mountain of welding to do I've just booked the next two weeks off work to carry out a weldathon of 9 hour days lol plan is to have all the underneath and arches done at least and try to get it all skimmed and a coat of primer on it.....what are the chances of two weeks of dry weather? Lol
If you manage to get 9hrs a day for two weeks you'd be doing plenty! I average 5hrs a week on mine so would it take almost six months to get the equivalent time in!! When i look at where my resto was six months ago its come a long way since, however the chances of it staying dry for you are slim to none and you have a family so that always messes up the best laid plans Good luck.
I've just invested in a gazebo, so that should combat the climate a bit hahaha just need to deal with the catMarmite problem now :s
bit the bullet and ordered a copy of @brothernumberone 's resto book so I don't have to rely so heavily on @zed and @optimistic for advice on panel stuff so, the list is as follows: cut out the remaining outriggers and damaged sections of tophat, rear arches, front n/s arch outer skin, front 3rd of the deformation panel, and rear light sections of the corners. fit outriggers, jacking points, repair tophats repair front edge of cargo floor at bulkhead join repair rear wheelarch area of the inside floor weld two patches into the long chassis rails weld in inner, middle, outer n/s sill cut out and smooth badge plinth early rear light conversion modify deformation panel to take an early bumper plate up power hookup socket hole modify fuel filler to mk1 caddy pickup aperture and flap modify rear vents a little repair roof sides and corners fill and paint so a bit to do lol to be fair, only the underneath stuff is pressing....the reat is an as and when affair
I told my mummy about your special cuddle, she says you're a bad man and I'm not to speak to you anymore!
did the badge plinth and headlight bowls today.....what a pain of a job! Carefully tacked the smoothing panel around and it still warped to blazes, plus I set the airbox pipe on fire lol mostly skimmed now....just needs long blocking and the front panel is pretty much finished
doesn't look like much for five hours work lol still a bit of sanding to do then hopefully paint it and see how it looks...aiming to finish it off tomorrow afternoon
well another nice day today! Just finished work and off to spend the next few hours sanding and welding hopefully last of the rear end stuff just arrived so might try and get the holes cut today and see what needs doing to get the early ones situated
weathers not quite as nice today but hoping it stays dry at least. Had a look at the rear corners yesterday and I can kinda see what I need to do for the back lights so gonna make a start on that after work this afternoon and see how that goes
I run them with LED festoons which are flat and dont need bulb mounts and reflectors etc, just a pair of wires through a 3mm hole in the panel
not yet lol I wanted the much prettier styling of an early with the better mechanicals of a late so front and rear surgery is the only way to accomplish it
