Another vote for "you won't notice" apart from where I live there's no changing lanes/ busy traffic with knobs cutting you up. Swap from one to other without a worry.
ok cool it was the gear change that i wondered with, i'm pretty observant after 5 years of driving a lefty so all other stuff should be ok
Bloody hell Rick! maybe give a few days looking ,loads out there? Woody took 3 weeks and I thought that was short.
I had it insuranced as a daily with unlimited mileage, obvs some insurance companies won't insure you. I was with jk for 3 of those years no issues. I now have switched to a limited mileage policy as I have a Marmitebox to run about in too.
got my mind made up now, golf tax out monday, fiesta coming weekend for mrs, fusion and golf and bay need to go.....
Its all wrong, wrong I tell you. DONT DO IT. We have a c-max cockhanded car and its bloody horrible thing to drive. You will hate it no mater how good the interior you put in.
I can drive all three ,rhd auto ,lhd 5 speed dogleg ,lhd 5 speed normal ,I have problems which arm the wipers are on ,so if you come on a motorway and the guy letting you on via slip road, squirts his windscreen twice, its me...
rick your a serial car changer , you wont be happy with what ever you get , dont listen ta that lot listen ta this bloke this is you to a tee
Not now but had 2 lhd daily drivers (both T4 westies ) and had no problems at all, apart from pain of car park ticket machines.
I'm just getting the feel of LHD and I prefer it. Parallel parking into a tight space yesterday was fine, I can check the kerb easily. Passing cyclists is safer; vision on the right hand side was sorted by twisting the mirror sideways to get a better field of view. As for the ticket machines, it is easy to jump across with plenty of room in a cab. Being close to the pavement, you can check the young and attractive ladies out too. Just ask your passenger to check if you need to overtake.
You do tend to drive your bay literally in the gutter....least you are all the way over when I follow you...
Mrs shouting "get over get over" Given up on this idea now anyway plenty rhd, just not many rhd multi vans, hence looking at lhd. But caravelle easy to convert so...
What with there being thousands of the things out there for sale, I'd go rhd. It's not like you're ever going to take it to Europe is it!
I've had a lefty Chevrolet Camaro, 2 Pontiac Firebirds, a Trans Am and a Triumph Spitfire in the past all used as dailies. Parking is easy, overtaking is fine as long as you leave a gap to see around (not a problem in a 5.7L Trans Am) and most importantly the ashtray is in the middle
I ran a Trabby as my daily for 6 years. That had a column change, but the only problem I really had was getting into the wrong side of other folks cars. Backwards around MacDonalds always used to raise a few eyebrows.
Having driven loads of LHD hire cars on foreign holidays, I'd say the gearchange thing is not a problem, you will get used to it very easily. It is the handbrake thing that takes a little more getting used to, and gazing out of the side window looking for the rear view mirror. However even these things are not an issue and even an old fart like you will adapt to these very quickly.
