I used to run into the steelworks from Ravenscraigh and they actually do have Glaswegian accents in Corby. A lot of people moved down from Scotland to work there;
Elderly Scottish bloke near me with broad Scottish accent told me last week that he asked a lad in Corby where he was from, meaning which part of Scotland, The lad said no, i'm born and bred Corby .
You could always move to Berwick on Tweed Paul ! ......only trouble is they might start cutting heads off wanting it back as the county town again .
That'd be next on the list if it went to a yes vote... They'd want their towns back... If you wanted to get technical, then it'd be based on the route of Hadrian's wall, which runs from Carlisle, and finishes at Walls End in the borough of Newcastle
It's true! A large number of Scots came down to Corby in the thirties to work in the steelworks and turned the town into a mini Glasgow. The steelworks closed 30 odd years ago but the Scottish influence and culture is ingrained into the town.
Nope it's only Scottish residents who get a vote. Most of the jocks in Corby now are actually 3rd or 4th generation from the original lot who came down and come from the town.
My therapist says I'm making excellent progress and by next year I could start my dream career as a Samaritan. Probably. Don't leave us....please
I don't have a chip on my shoulder or anything against the English people but il be voting YES next week
