This is a realistic and informed response, as good as anything I have read anywhere on this subject buddy.

My one fear with all this is that these people's 'Mental illness' will further stigmatise the wider populous of those with mental illness - I suspect it might be time for that hugely generic term to have some boundaries if possible.

  2. I believe the term for these people is 'personality disorder' as it is learnt behaviour where the 'normal' socially accepted boundaries have not been taught or been bent as the person has 'got away' with previous bad behaviour.
A police surgeon described their behaviour as being a 'bad dog' as they have not been trained or disciplined to behave within societies norms.
That's my on the job training and understanding.

It probably has, in the world of psychiatry. In my world ( please remember I am a low life truck driver ) I see these type of things as wrong and unexplainable. Hence I just put it down to them being not right in the head. furthermore - completer tossers.

Fortunately other people have to deal with these people and their 'disorders' as I would be sorely tempted to resort to @Birdy's dido and grisco as a starting point. T'is the way of the low life!

  4. To paraphrase a saying, 'you have to understand your enemy to defeat them'.
A mate on Vice told me that if you talked to them normally, without showing disgust, they'll admit their offences whereas if you treated them as scum they'd shut up which causes more grief for the victim.
My comments were the professional in me but since I don't have to be professional any more, I'd vote for birdys option.

  5. I think the point was that paedophiles and other sex offenders shouldn't be described as having mental health issues as it takes away some of the responsibility of their actions, as in "I can't help it I'm ill" and it detracts from people who are really struggling with their mental health. You can't use a medical model for sex offenders, it's behavioural. The DSM describes it as a sexual disorder.

  6. "Commonly dubbed ‘perversions’ or ‘sexual deviations’,paraphilia describes a condition in which a person’s sexual arousal and gratification depend on fantasies, urges or behaviours that are atypical and extreme. Most paraphilias are reportedly more common in men than in women."

  7. the trouble with all of this is its not new , its been going on for donkeys years and still is , and those that are aware are finding more and more devious ways to get away with it , lots of high profile jobs have been used as guises, even the police , you just never know and even when they do searches whos to say that if a persons never been caught they wont offend . Its a mine field sadly .

What stinks is how these people are protected.

Saville, and probably others, spotted that by being generous in terms of charity, he could become untouchable. Shame on those grabbing bastewards that turned a cheek as some poor kid paid the price for millions going into a charity 'for the greater good'.

However, it's worth noting how he was seen, even at the time of his death - pal of royalty, knighted etc etc.

If you click on 'worst rated comments' people were calling the scandal a good while before the Police went in.

Conversely - Jonny Rotten risked his career in 1978 to state this, supposedly suppressed by the BBC - 57 seconds in

I take your point. I even understood what Moons was saying. I was just saying This is how I see it. I know I have a complete lack of understanding and any compassion for these people at all, but that is how it is, Horses for courses. I suppose you guys have more dealings with this than I will ever have.

I could of course try and relate it to my own sexual fetishes, but that would probably lead to more posts about ball pein hammers, lay by's and ladys off ill repute. where as in reality it is a combination of lavender oil and incontinence knickers that floats my boat these days. ;)
