Just received this Italian beauty. Anyone know if it’s ok to mount these in a vertical plane, (so not the flying saucer orientation)? vertical would be much easier and neater in my engine bay. I’d just need to bend the slim mounting bracket through 90 degrees to form a foot. Note instructions do not mention fitting orientation
I would imagine so, given how they work (diaphragm and a big spring). Does it say anything in the instructions (can’t remember)?
Yes, you’ve got yours in the horizontal, but of course you’ve got the filter do horizontal a must here.
Here's another without the filter, the only reason I could guess it would be better in the horizontal position to give equal wear/flow but that's just me thinking and doesn't make it right Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Yeh yeh, just got a reply for Malpassi and they say can be in any position and that they are used now in drones and small aeroplanes
Do I need to use a tape on the screw threads here? Some kind of petrol resistant PTFE? Someone had fitted it to the EMPI one I removed. I doubt it’s needed though?
Metal pipe as supplied by Aircooled works and is ready shaped. It goes through the fire wall and curves towards the fuel pump that’s above the rear left CV joint. Short section of rubber hose though before it mates up with the pump
