No way joe-say, seal was tight a gnats chuff - couldn't even get a tiewrap close ... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Mine are like that, you can lock mine from inside, will certainly on the passenger's side you can. But it might be a good idea if you couldn't do it on the driver's side. Off the top of my head, I can't recall if you can, or can't on the driver's. Not much help, am I?
Yes , they're lockable from the inside but I found the pair I looked at last weekend wouldn't lock from the outside by closing the latch and holding down the handle trigger , mine do but with the button in the corner. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
It's good to talk isn't it I'm pretty sure ours was that type, and would lock from inside on both doors
Back to the original question , which i answered several times , how to lock a door from the OUTSIDE ! THEY-ALL-LOCK-FROM-THE-INSIDE ! Or should do - Whether button or paddle . Jeezzzz ...
There is also an annoying bit of metal that pings up and down as the lock operates, and the slot in it gradually gets longer. It acts to transfer force from the key barrel part to the rest of the mechanism. When the slot gets larger , you get little rolls of burred over metal at the end, and the action of the key in the lock gets mushier and mushier until it barely works. I have now managed to blob weld metal in there then file it down again, to make my door locks have a nice positive locking action .. I would suspect that the little lever on the end of the lock barrel has dropped off or is loose , and the lock needs to be taken out and cleaned then re-lubricated. Both my drivers and passengers locks operate on the pull-trigger, push down lock shut door, door locks principle. Its one of those things the buyer should have spotted. Get them to come on here and we will talk them through it all...
They spotted plenty thanks! Well, I pointed out as much as I could, as I wouldn't like surprises as a buyer ... but this one I didn't even know about. I've dropped a couple of hints about TLB but "you can lead a horse to water" and all that
^this. The tab’s dropped off and is lying inside the door. Should point out that Big Barry is available for a modest fee if they continue to gripe.
I will try and get a picture showing the place where I welded the lock mechanism to make it crisper in operation. All the locks are meant to operate with locking from inside or outside, and lock from the open position without a key. But they are all worn or missing a spring over the years so they end up in various states. My drivers door did not need a key , I could unlock it with my thumbnail. This was missing a spring on the pull part in the corner and the handle casting was worn so the lock biscuits had grooves.
