  1. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

You're talking type-1 again Mr Mike.

Type-4, skinny as they are, do benefit from careful storage, they are more fiddly to fit, more easily displaced during the process with less margin for error if that happens...But never need trimming.

You just have to be careful.

  2. Was a new gasket too.. only been broken in.. when it was fine.. readjusted tappets.. and a couple of hill runs to test.. again fine.. first test any real distance 4 miles from house notice smoke as soon as I get up to 50, slow down and start slow trip home wondering what's given up, half way back pressure drops so called for backup topped up oil and limped home...

Fit perfect when installed, look like its grown to bow out? Elring, never had isues before on the tintop just stuck in place with a very light smear of red rubber grease as its sticky.

Might start using a little Curil left to tacky.

So after several attempted methods of seat spring repair - which didn’t work - I finally came up with this..

It’s 4mm id aluminium tube which I heated up to shape and then slid over the broken spring ends.

I then clamped the tube onto the springs..

So far so good and it seems to be holding.

  4. Love it! Takes longer to figure these workarounds out than to actually implement them...but satisfying once achieved.

I’ve started the new framework to hold the poptop in place but allow for recessed lighting etc...but the main thing was to add strength to neglected Devon cutout.
    Almost there now.

  5. Worth including a cutout somewhere for a stock rear interior light, if you haven’t got one.

Took her for an autumn run to shops. Forgot me mask so Mrs Nellie had to do the shopping.

You’ll be depressed in Tesco ;)

Putting everything back in it after the sand blasting / paint job. Is it too late for an Indian Summer ?!

  13. Took the clutch and flywheel off to, hopefully, reveal the source of an oil leak. What do you reckon? I’m changing the seal anyway like... F9393AC1-1C5C-40D0-BCD2-C41FC5EAA553.jpeg

  15. Looks fine. Bit of a widdle from the old seal. Don’t forget there’s an o-ring in the flywheel!
