  1. Don't forget to add in the @iblaze 'devon awning c channel' conversion modification before you re fit the 'canvas'

You are meant to point the exhaust outside then your trousers will not catch fire quite so soon.

First of all, I actually did something! The first time I've whipped up enthusiasm since the covid crisis started.

When putting my type 4 case halves together I'd missed the bolt that goes through the eye of the oil strainer bolt. Subsequently I'd also got some of the bolts in the wrong place. So today I got them in the right place and torqued up again. The oil strainer took a little persuasion to line the eye up to get the bolt in, using a socket extension as a drift.

Checked the oil pump over. There's a bit of wear on the tang that engages with the cam, but very little sign of lash in the gears. I decided not to open it up and refitted it

Finally I installed the studs in my new AMC heads using a smear of blue loctite. I would have finished that off, but one of the heads was supplied with 5 rocker studs and only 3 exhaust studs! Another item onto the shopping list!

I'm quite chuffed with myself. Progress!

Put the heating on as it was getting chilly. Nice.
My hand brake light that has never worked has decided to work now. All the time not when handbrake is operated. Oh well. I’ll get round to it next weekend

Fore and aft as it were?
I once had to fix this that Vege had done. I wondered how it had happened and experimented, pretty much doing what you did and sure enough the o-ring dislodged and would not reseat without dismantling the case halves and starting again. Only you know how it felt...

  8. Tried to change the ignition barrel on a 74 Bay - can't quite get the curved bit of wire to release the key barrel!! Gave up, came in for a beer!

It was only a gnat's out.

You can see it on the left side (the case is resting on the flywheel end). It was held quite firmly by the case being bolted together. However a few gentle-ish taps, and it stepped back into line. There was certainly not enough movement to dislodge the seal, and it's a new one too so still flexible

Does that not mean that it is actually the brake fault light, and one of the switches has failed on the master cylinder.

Finished all the seat covers, then made a cat on a cushion as a door stop for indoors. 20201018_152551.jpg

Its actually the final resting place for a load of other fabric off cuts.. . Unfortunately it manages to remind me a bit of Garfield.
