What’s peoples methods of repelling the things?
I know camping and getting bitten at some point go hand in hand but my missus reacts badly to insect bites and stings so we try all sorts of things to repel them .

we’re currently lighting enough citronella candles to light a small village and also those citronella coil thingies ...along with various sprays etc .

just wondered if anyone has any tried / tested methods ???

  2. Skinsosoft, it's what they use up here in midgy hell. Light a fire and burn some herbs, rosemary and thyme

  3. Also Sainsbury's antihistamine, or any supermarket brand, to stop the reaction.

I know it's of no real help but I never have a problem with them.
I just sit next to my missus and they get her and leave me alone!

Someone on here has recommended an Avon product in the past... don't think it was specifically a midge repellant but seemed to work.

I use jungle spray but the bailiff on our lake swears by garlic capsules and he doesn't seem to get bitten so I'm guessing they work

She sometimes has to wallop down some antibiotics to stop the reaction ( swelling and blistering o_O)

Smidge. Works a treat. I think you can even apply it over sunscreen which I’m not sure you can with the Skinsosoft. Get some. You will not regret it

That may have been me. It’s apparently one of their better sellers according to my sis who’s an Avon lady . It’s meant to be some sort of moisturiser but scares them midges away. That name mentioned earlier might even be the right name for it, Oh So Soft or something very similar :)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,good luck because they don’t take no prisoners them little midges :);):)
