I have a July 72 crossover LHD. My indicator stalk went floppy in the middle yesterday. I can still use it but you have to carefully put it back in the middle so that it stops indicating left or right. I hear that it's really difficult to find replacement parts for an indicator switch so any suggestions?
I think it's the earlier type - just the one stalk. Looking through tlb search it seems they are very hard to find?
If it's like mine ...which it probably is , maybe the two screws either side under the stalks have worked loose if so tighten them up ...they are a terrible design , the later ones are well better . Does it move about from left to right depending which stalk you use . i have even resorted to binding it together with insulating tape .
Thanks i will look for screws underneath to tighten - but it has only the one stalk so different from yours?
Looks like Machine 7 is the answer. Expensive, but at least i can get one. They point out that it doesn't look like the original but that's no problem. Even my engine doesn't look like the original. Thanks for all help and advice.
Yes, afraid the one I want is the most expensive at £149-50. I wonder why it's so expensive - and so much more than the stalks for other VW vehicles?
I might have a new repro one I bought a few years ago. In the end I got a NOS one from Australia so it's never been used. I'll check tomorrow and do some pics. If I haven't posted by tomorrow night message me to remind me.
I found mine could be persuaded to stay together with cable ties. As it has remained for the last 9 years .
