Veggie BBQs. Pretty useless without the dripping fat feeding the charcoal? When I was a vegetable we had to get a gas BBQ at which point we might as well have had a fry up. Sneak your sausages onto someone else's charcoal BBQ for the win.
Last year when fishing was a bit slow I was invited to a bbq that a couple of lads further up the bank were having. I expected the normal rubbish disposable thingy, but they had one of these cobb cookers. The food it cooked was amazing and best of all it used hardly any charcoal, just a few bricks, so not lugging big bags of stuff around. Very impressive and it had a small pack down size as well.
excellent cost per bbq! I love things that last for ages My mountain bike from late 90's is still going strong My 'daily' is 20 years old (in my family since 3 years old ish) Camper 20+ years under my ownership Loads of very old clothes!. We need to make quality stuff, stop chucking stuff away, look after stuff, mend and repair etc
Veggie bbqs still nice with the 'smoked' taste. Quuality of veggie options for bbqs is amazing these days
The cadac safari lite turned up today .. god it’s small Contemplated sending it back but then decided that it will be absolutely fine , packs away nice and neat doesn’t it Going to give it a run out tonight with some bloody asparagus as that’s what’s for tea apparently
It`ll be fine , this is one case of smaller being better ... Feed back and let us all know how you get on . There`ll only be you to feed anyways , Dazza-no-mates
It’s not to be used , it’ll get dirty actually , couldn’t wait - just chucked an egg on and tried it out - marvellous
I have always taken a weber 100, I think it has been superceded by this https://www.weber.com/GB/en/barbecues/gas-barbecues/q-series--/50060074.html
Reviving this thread to pose a few questions about external gas points. I'm in the process of figuring out where my copper gas pipe to my underslung Propex heat is routed. To enable an external gas cooker/BBQ I'm also looking at either a separate pipe ( current plan) or to T off the Propex supply to a quick release BBQ point. I have assumed that we won't be cooking outside if we need the heater on, so they will never be on at the same time. Thoughts on this appreciated. I've found this external connector (https://autogasshop.co.uk/product/truma-coupling-quick-acting-valve-kv8-bbq-point/) and was wondering what others have done or is there a better option. I was also wondering where you have positioned your external point if you have one and finally it is worth doing as we don't want to carry another gas cylinder. Thanks
Looks like a neat solution, and the only annoyance I can imagine if its too exposed, is when the brass locking sleeve on the hose coupler gets a bit corroded and stiff when you need to move it to attach or detach the BBQ. Using a T piece to feed it off a single manifold output will not stop the gas heater from working at the same time, the 8mm pipe is capable of delivering a lot more flow than we need for a 2kw heater - the orifice the gas enters the burner through is something like 0.5mm or less in diameter, at least when I had a look at the burner assembly on the Propex.
All finished bar a few details. That took a lot of time and thanks to those who helped https://thelatebay.com/index.php?th...done-to-your-bay-today-thread.55126/page-1076 Gas locker and internal manifold and regulator with gas vent at bottom Quuck release gas point (open and closed) with Propex hiding behind. All the joints seem to be gas tight using the special leak detector fluid. @mikedjames has kindly offered to bring his gas probe to TE
