I think the answer for a lot of these folk is that they don't know. They've spent loads on having someone fix it, but they've no idea what's been done, or whether it's been done well. They've no idea. They see a picture of a bus that looks approximately the same...so that's the price.

I would imagine that the way to get a near as dammit valuation of any bus is to see how much a proper Grade A concours one is worth from a trusted site, then look at the one you own of the same model, then deduct from the concours price, how much it will cost to get yours into EXACTLY the same condition as that one. So for example, if a mint Devon like mine comes along, and I mean mint, and for example it’s worth 30k and it takes me 25k to get it like that, then surely it’s worth 5k.(These are figures that I am picking out of the air, for valuation example sake).

You need to adopt a much more politicians styled reply. “Does it have any rust?” “I think the question you should be asking is “what about the interior “” “No I’m interested in the rust” “I think it’s important not to get too lost in the detail and obscure the important issues here, which I’m sure you agree is the new interior “
Some of this is Wheeler Dealers etc. fault. Buy a Porsche for £5k Spend £3500 on wheels, paint etc. Sell it for £10k....we’ve made £500 profit Edd. Ignore the 25 hours at £70 an hour that the mechanic cost. So every ‘restoration’ of whatever ‘classic’ you dig up is always worth what you have in, plus profit.

I'd so far as to say you CAN'T make a £5k bus into one worth 30k. There must be a ceiling for restored buses that's way lower than unwelded "survivors".
Yep I think you must be right. How can a completely original solid bus be the same cost as a bus with a replaced chassis components and aftermarket panels and a new interior. No matter how well it’s been done.
