Hi all! So the time has come to strip the Helsinki down to a bare shell, windows out, motor out and pop top off. I will be replacing all door rubbers, window rubbers etc.. I have some friends who will do the welding and spraying privately. The welder works at a panel beater and the sprayer does bikes cars etc and is an amazing air-brusher,not that I plan on airbrushing the van.. I have seen some cars he has done and they are amazing! Pop top will be painted and a new tent fitted,i have this already. I am staying with the original green/white colours. So I need to know where is the best place to get window/door rubber kits from?
Mine all came from Custom & Commercial and were the nice (proper) soft grey ones. Worth checking though as it was a good few years ago now!
Mine were cheap, hard black ones, think from jk,I have been told is the best way to go,buggier to put on but once in they will stay nice and tight.fitted to my Helsinki 6 years ago and never had any leak and they still looking very good
Custom and Commercial for me too. Don’t waste your money on cheap black hard ones from JK or anywhere else, I couldn’t even close the doors and it was yet another part from JK that ended up in the bin.

So had good progress on the camper in the past 2 days, basically the camper is stripped, all windows out and cupboards etc. Next stage is removing lights, pop top and finally the motor. I have 9 weeks free so will be busy! My plan is to have it ready for next summer. Once the camper is at the welder/sprayer i will be doing a few things to the motor, nothing internal as its been done already,im very keen on buying the CSP central airbox setup but its stupid expensive, will see...
Useful thread, i have some more welding being done soon, then rubbing down myself and going to have a go at spraying in my dads (large) garage, who has spray equipment. She's not really ready for a professional job yet as there will be some more welding required. That said i am also about to order new front panel, all window and door seals, soundproofing, and many of the bits you mention, revo counter, worry gauges etc. Will not be perfect but perhaps 70% of the way there, and then rest over the next couple of years. Currently the original interior out and i am reparing hinges, cupboards, handles, sanding the roof lining etc. lots of jobs to do before April and camping season. Reason for Post. Did you get a discount doing a bulk order? and is it worth speaking to them in person.
