  2. Spent the day helping the painter with some of the bodywork.
We had some low spots on some of the panels and the driver side door skin was not tight, I learnt how to metal shrink using a propane torch and a spray bottle. Bodywork is much straighter and just a slight skim of bondo to hide some slight imperfections.
Should be ready to spray in about a month, the painter is a real perfectionist as am I.

  6. Cleaned up and painted the underside with fiberglass paint and it came out very nice, the flicking on the roof has come off in patches so I will cover it with speaker box carpet , the thin felt type.

  7. Removed old foam and plaid and sanded and stained the wood, also sanded and sprayed the bed feet brackets. New foam and plaid will be fitted throughout including the T3 style seats. DF7DF59B-C505-448E-9049-1F87F83CCF56.jpeg A7515C5C-0BAA-4511-9B0C-6351B3804FF6.jpeg

  8. The stain almost matches the Westy veneer so all good.

  9. So lined the roof with a roof fabric of 80% wool and 20% polyester, I used contact spray glue to glue it on, turned out very nice. 1AA1681E-6764-48A4-8CC1-F681DAC52281.jpeg 6B60C0CA-49A7-4C0C-A720-480BDD2FB68F.jpeg 77F71429-371C-48F5-9BA3-7AC88BA08F45.jpeg

  10. Thanks ! it turned out better than I hoped, it attaches with staples through a plastic strip into wooden strips in the fiberglass.

Very important to fit the tent straight so when opened it’s tight and has no wrinkles in the fabric.

  11. When you come to fit it could you take some pics of the strip etc please and it all going together.

Mines not a westy but very similar
The canvas was stapled to the fibreglass then a wooden board covered the entire inside of the roof hiding the edges of the canvas.
The board has got soggy and fallen apart due to a leaky skylight
Instead of replacing the board I want to just carpet the inside of the pop top but need a way of hiding the edges of the canvas.

  12. I will take some pics but it will be in a few weeks from now, send me pics of yours so I can see what you mean

  13. Just using a piece of wood as the plastic tack strip, staple it like this then you won’t see the staples from the inside

  14. I’ll get some pics next time I go to the van

  15. Just thinking @Lasty has the same roof as mine
I wonder how he’s done his

  16. What roof you got?

  17. That`ll be a Leisuredrive , similar to a Westy but un-ribbed an a vent in the center of the roof ...

Untouched as yet , i think replacing the bellows will be next on the agenda as it`s a reinforced plastic sheeting , very similar to the original stripey Devon one and getting brittle with age . The roof interior is trimmed around the edge and stapled on to a thin wooden frame ? Can`t be sure but that`s what it seems like ..
I`m on the lookout for some of the bellows material if anyone knows of any ??
Drawn a blank so far but i like it so ....

    Any help much appreciated

  19. Mine will be the same mold as yours @paradox but i`ve never stripped the internal covering off but there`s no wooden board . I renewed the skylight and changed the wooden battens to suit the new vent but managed it by teasing away the cover - no board !
it`s like a coffee coloured canvas like material glued to the spas to keep it up - have a look next Techenders
