My niece has a degree in dance and teaches in a school now. Not the best of jobs, but she puts her heart n soul into it.

  2. I see your point to and extent but who are you to judge. The arts bring in a significant amount of money dont they. We all want to be entertained dont we. Do you think its right that the qualifiction to be a Nurse is a degree and that you have to pay £27k tuition fees for example. Isnt it about where you draw a line. Do we charge apprentices for their college courses, or deduct money for the on the job training. Do employers charge employees for training courses to allow them to do their jobs. Kids have to go to school till they are 18 in most cases. Lets charge tuition for 6th form colleges. Dont stop there, what about schools......

Did tuition fees kill off a lot of the Mickey Mouse courses? I'd have no issue my taxes going towards worthwhile qualifications but I don't see why I should support someone's degree in surfing.

  4. Yeah. Or medicine or engineering or something else that might end up putting well-educated and informed people in important positions. Let's make education unattractive to the clever but poor so that our country really does go down the pan.
Also, I wonder how much West End Theatre contributes to the tourist economy of our capital city? Shoot them all and let's go back to living in caves...

  5. Would you like to make a list of what is 'worthwhile'? I'm just about to lose my job because people think there is no value in learning about the arts and frankly it makes me feel like jumping off a cliff to hear people talk like that. What was the point of my life..?

    This makes me laugh.
Are you saying that the tories don't care about you but labour do?
NEWSFLASH: None of them give a crap about you, me, him or her.
Whoever gets in will do whatever is best for them. The manifestos are just a competition in who can write the biggest lies and get away with them. It's not like they're held to account once voted in is it!?

In a nutshell all we have to do is vote a Labour government in and all our problems simply melt away, Mr Corbyn negotiates the perfect Brexit deal, no more unemployment, no more debt, free school meals, free university, free prescriptions, free care for the elderly, free dentists I'm in

  10. In 2006 (before the bankers crashed the lot) the creative Industries (which include dance!) were the second largest contributor to the GDP (info available online). For every £1 spent there was a £6 return to the economy.
Who was the first? The financial sector.

So, what value does that dance degree or dance teacher have? More than just significantly contributing to the GDP.

  11. Yes they did but only for crappy universities that taught them. Again its about where you draw the line. Your example is amusing but ive never heard of that course being taught at a credible UK university but i could be wrong.

No. I am saying labour are more likely to support the health service than the lying Tories, who have spent the last five years downgrading things to such a point we all look at private health as a better alternative!

No thanks. Luckily I'm not a politician so I won't ever have to.
Degree in Viking Studies Vs a degree in nursing. I know which I'd happily pay for.

As an aside, hope you get sorted. I got made redundant a year or so ago so I know how it feels.
