There are lawns and then there are grassed areas. Mine was a lawn and is slowly erring towards a grassed area, the beds are massive, the shrubs need more care and knowledge than I have time or knowledge of and the whole thing -ie compost heap.garden management needs bringing back into order before it goes to far into decline, he seems to know what he intends to do....

  3. I'd really like to grub it all up and dig a big pond, stuff it full of water cress etc. and have loads of frogs and newts...turn the curtilage into habitat and refugia, log piles, etc.
    Great for wildlife...almost zero maintenance....
I see you have an 'outdoor pool'....very posh:D

  16. No, but I do a lot of conservation volunteering ('extreme gardening' as we like to call it) and we've made loads for schools etc. There's plenty of info on the net....really good for different bee species and other beasties...plant a couple of Buddleias and you'll have tons of butterflies in spring and summer...

  20. A friend of ours was made redundant and decided to start his own gardening business. He is now busier than ever and has not had to advertise. Our next door neighbour also gardens for other folk part time.
