    Kidderminster.

  2. One of our customers at work is a gardener and still uses his late bay single cab as his work truck. Has done for I think about 20 years.

I hope we get to buy it when he retires

Too be fair, not ALL gardeners know the latin names of plants. They are known more as 'Plantsmen'.I must admit,im not that hot on latin names, but i know the care that most plants need and how and when to prune them...I'll never be able to sit down and learn latin as i simply dont have the time, but i started from scratch 10 years ago and am still going strong,so i must be doing something right.
But i enjoy it so much,i dont really see it as a job. That helps a great deal. And as far as i know, had never had any complaints.I am still with most of the customers i started with, unfortunatly,a few of them have died as they were very old.

A Roman walks into a garden centre and says to the assistant "I'd like to buy a Spider Plant please".

The assistant looks at him and says, "Pretentious Illegitimate child!"...;)

Apparently he is very good, but chooses his employers and his terms carefully. not expensive either. he comes recommended by the local shopkeeper,

I have been seen and I think I may have passed the first interview. He is going to see how his other customers can be shuffled around to allow him 10 hours a month on mine. £7.50 an hour no hedge cutting and if I mow the lawns he will make sure it stays a lawn and the beds come up to scratch.

    I will keep you informed.

he wont cut the hedge or the grass i would have thought thats the work you do want doing

  15. so you're going to pay £7.50 an hour for him not to do the biggest ball-ache jobs like hedge trimming and lawn-mowing...?
Sounds more like you'll be paying him to stroll round admiring the roses....

He'll be asking if you have any deck chairs and Lemonade next

Luckily I don't have much hedge just a beech hedge that's 20 foot long at the bottom of the garden and this takes very little maintenance, the lawns I like mowing so that will save time and money, he will keep them up to a good standard, tining, feeding, raking etc. so result for me!
If he can fit me in?

  18. besides which....assuming you mow the lawn....what does "making sure it stays a lawn" actually involve?
Presumably, some light arse-scratching, small twig removal and him saying " Yes...it's still a lawn....that'll be £7.50 please"

He comes highly recommended tbh, bit on the old side but seems well clued up, he does 3 gardens locally and isn't that keen on taking on more, he says he knows my garden from when it was one 0f the local garden society gardens and has always liked it, so here's hoping.

  20. Only pulling your leg....if you don't mind mowing it's a fair price for maintenance....
the 'lawn' here is f00ked....the house was the last plot on the estate, so it's where the builders had their cabin and marshalling yard..... there's all manner of crap buried just below the surface....mainly hardcore and aggregates. The 'lawn' is basically moss, so it's a nightmare to mow....especially if you don't really g.a.s.
