Oooh mind your back! I took the windscreen out and dash top off. Piece of cake then. My windscreen had a deluxe strip so that part was easy.
Mine was exactly like how you described yours,after a few years of none use. I just took the wiper arms off,gave the splined bits a good spray of WD40 and let it sit for a while,then gave them a good blow out with compressed air to blow the loose stuff out. Did that 2 or 3 times,then a light oil with 3~1,put the wipers arms back on,and it all worked fine.New blades,too.
Sometimes if you look hard there are little holes where you can tension the brush and its spring then lock it with a pin in the hole. Put motor together, remove pin it pops into place... As was done in the factory.
Almost did it by hand but not quite. Some tiny cable ties did the job then cut them off once armature back in place. Lightly cut back commutator and undercut insulation. Let’s hope it’s good for a while!
