  1. You won't be told, will you ;)?

The bodges I keep finding on this bus!
This is the inside of the indicator and h/lamp flasher switch:

Those two twisted wire connections were covered in a bit of tape. Please could someone tell me what the original set up should be?

Any ideas on my indicator switch - in old money of course ;)

  6. Unfortunately not. Don't think I've ever disemboweled mine.

  7. While you're a-wipering, Mr D, don't forget your delay wipe relay and electric washer pump...

I bought one of those electric washer conversions using a standard shape bottle, which I thought was a nice upgrade. It comes with a dash switch but I'm looking for a suitable micro switch to do the stalk conversion. There's a guy on eBay who's got one - just asked him for one without his pre-wiring.
Now I hadn't considered the delayed wipers but now you've said it....
How's it work then? I think I saw a thread on Samba about one of those relays. You wouldn't happen to have an old style wiring diagram by any chance, would you old bean?

  9. Well worth doing. I use mine all the time.

Any small SPST pushbutton switch will do (C&K my choice, but I had one already).

Nice write up - looks like I need a quick mod to my wiper circuit diagram. So you need a toggle switch to use intermittent when the stalk is in the off position, is that right? Also something to adjust the delay? Do you have a link to these bits perchance?
Would the SPST not have to be high enough rated to cope with the motor? 3 or 4 amps?

  12. The SPST is probably underrated, but you don't run the pump for long. My 1A button works fine.

If you get the variable relay (might be able to find one at a scrappy), you vary the period by starting the wipers, switching them off mid-travel, waiting, then switching them on again. The relay remembers the period. A bit non-intuitive, but works fine. Or just get the fixed-delay relay.

I've got a separate switch to work intermittent. I tried to add a contact to the spare position on the wiper switch, but I gave up: they're riveted together and genuine ones are like hen's teeth if you mess them up.

Worth the hassle of putting it all in, IMHO.

  13. Should be ok. I used a clicky red-bodied one as I had one (Made in the USA - how times change). Or, there are cheapy Chinese ones on fleaBay.

Need to mod your wiper switch so the little actuator arm that normally pushes the air valve pushes the switch instead. Easy enough to mod, but be careful widening out the hole in the switch body. It's only thin nylon, and may crack if you go mad with it. A gentle filing's best.

Yes, it needs to be 6mm or so to match the switch I believe, good point on careful filing. I'll ring those guys and see which one tomorrow.

I think I misled you - just checked and I think I got it from your thread back in Feb. Sorry

Went through a 15 minute identification of the right switch over the phone with the chap from Mouser - then he tells me they only ship from USA!!

Pleeeease would you give me a link to one in the UK? I really can't find one over 0.5 amp rating.
