bit more info? cuts out ticking over? cuts out under load?

  3. And is it standard ? or "tweeked" i.e. aftermarket anything ?which may have a bearing on this occurence.

  4. carb icing... petrol starvation. coil getting hot. condensor faulty. air filter clogg. fuel filter blocked. many things really

check your pipes could be air leak, could be blocked filter/carb does it re start straight away? if so probably fuel more than electrical.

have you got a servo fitted on your van - check the pipe coming off the inlet manifold to the servo's non return valve, this may be split or disconnected

 my limited source of suggestions has run out (our westy had a vac house come off the FI system and did same as yours)

  14. Does it cut out after the choke comes off?

a vacum pipe was of the other week and run rough from the air filter

Check the little fuel mixture screw on the carb, the rubber washer may have perished and is letting air in, I fitted a brand new carb on a beetle a few months back and after getting warm it just kept cutting out, took me ages to find out that the little fuel screw did'nt have a rubber washer on it  I fitted one and it runs perfect

i'd go with it pulling air in somewhere ken, deffo check all pipes and seals on the carb.
