Just been scanning through the for sale pages in this month's camper and bus magazine , i see some are very pricey £15 - 20 grand ish but i wonder if anyone ever pays that much and if anyone on here ever has ?

i know mine owes me a bit now but i doubt i will ever get it back in money , maybe usage but money ?

How much do you think you would get back and would it be a profit or a loss ?

I added up how much Gusbus cost so far in purchasing him, resto parts, alloys etc & promptly fell off the chair

Gusbus would be a loss I guess but Major would probably make a small profit, fingers crossed!

i paid £2800 for mine and then spent another £3000 + doing her up myself ( well welding was done by someone else ) and she has not been sprayed yet - she's motted and looks tidy but atm i reckon she's worth about £7k no more . og early westy though and late crossover tax exempt -- dunno ?

  7. Paid too much for it spent too much on it it still needs loads spending on it and ive only used it a handfull of times in 6 years
Ill never recoup what ive put into it but its cheaper than a crack habit

  8. I swapped mine for some cabinets, swapped the welding and paint for a kitchen and probably done about a £1k on panels and bits so far but still a way to go yet.

Its all relative anyway, I think there only worth what someones prepared to pay.

And you could spend £30k on a bus and use it loads which would make it worth the money to the person paying it, where as if you spend 30k and don't use it complete waste.

  9. we paid £9k for Pinky .... prob spent £3-4k on her to keep her running ....

imagine she's worth no more than £10k ....

  14. Yikes! Scary thoughts. Unknown total as yet as still paying out, but I know VW Heritage and C&C have had their profits boosted over the past months!

My gut feeling is the market has dropped this year , i see a lot for sale and most that sell are under £12k , i may be wrong but it seems to be the ceiling re actually selling one quickly ?

  17. The real scary thing is if we hadn't bought Wilma almost 13 years ago we wouldn't be able to afford one now :(

The prices of some scrappers/rolling restos is far more than we paid

agree malc deffo a useable one cheaper now, i don't care what peeps say, i still stand by my initial thought when i looked at buying mine, these vans ain't worth what they fetch, you can't tell me my van (insured at 15k) is worth more than a virtually new discovery (example) think of the quality of transit camper i could buy for that.
