Where can I get this from?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by mattw, Apr 4, 2013.

  1. My interior panel between the two rear wheel arches has a few rusty holes running almost its entire length. Can you buy this as a repair panel as it would make life much easier. I can't find it in the usual places. Any ideas?

  3. dubscum was selling loads of cut sections. Message him fella? Worth a shot?

  4. Thought it might not be available :( Scholfields sounds like it might be expensive.

I'll give him a shout although Derby is a bit far away for me!!

  5. If he's got it and its a part you need mate, it may well be worth the trip? Just a thought ;)

  6. Just messaged him and he said somone was coming to get it on Saturday. Might just have to get the holes patched up.

  8. hey mattw, hold off on buying anything just yet.

how much exactly do you need? could you draw a red line on your pic up there to show how much you need? and ill see if i can save enough for you?

    Carl.

  9. carlperkins001 Thanks mate. Below is the areas that I would ideally want although the main one is the long bit in between the wheel arches. In addition I need a section of the cab floor (doesn't matter where from) in order to patch up a couple of holes.

zed It is a rubbish pic but there are holes most of the way along. This pic shows it a bit more clearly:

  12. If you could get that panel, you'd be looking at a £200/£300 price tag... it's also the section that the fuel tank sits on

I predict you're both going to need the same bits.
You can patch that up ok if you take your time.
No ridges so I used slightly thicker steel.

  14. Nice work Zed, as usual! ;)

  15. Looks good Zed. Out of interest, I noticed the hole in the floor on the bottom left of your last picture above. Is this a standard Westy hole? I think I might weld mine up.

  16. yeah mate, ill avoid those bits and save you as much as possible. ill message you saturday afternoonish.

  17. I'm not sure but I think it's for the sink, water maybe? I've got one same side next to my rear seat/ bed under the sink unit :)

Westy Continental, so far square hole is gas fall out and two near door are for sink drain and water tank drain.

  19. Nice thread this. People just helping each other out.

  20. You can get spare holes, but if they're Westfalia, they'll be pricey.

Fortunately, I've got a couple of authentic 70s Westfalia holes in the garage, both round and square, which I'm willing to sell to the highest bidder...
