Whats your cruising speed?

  1. Quite fancied knowing what everyone cruises at?

I cruise at about 60, can achieve 70, but can also struggle to get up hills, sometimes dropping to 45/50mph.

  2. 65 -70 with our 1600

it would go faster but uses a lot more fuel

  3. 1600tp std set up, cruise 60 can go faster , hills pending gradient but long shallow motorway still 55- 60ish. i dont have foot down either when cruising just touching throttle.

  4. Ask me in 3 weeks :)

  5. 1600 engine 50mph can get to 60 but feels like I'm pushing my luck!

  6. My 1600 TP happily cruised all the way from London to the north east at 55mph (with 1 or 2 refuels). Still had some left for overtaken and didn't really drop when going up the hills.

  7. usually 55 (1600) but can go 60. like barney, foot not down but just comfortable and bus seems to like it. 60 if it's very flat :D

  8. Ours is the 1700 flat. We cruise at 55 on back roads, and 60 on highway, (when we have to). Don't like to run faster,. and just not in that much of a hurry. My wife and I say "the adventure starts now" when we get in Diamond and off we go.

As far as the poll goes, none of the above, tend to do about 55 in me 1600 & 2L

It depends on how much time we've got to spare on the trip

  11. between 60-70mph.
About 3000rpm is 60mph, and all is nice and calm. 70mph is about 3500rpm and the carbs and exhaust get quite loud. 80mph and the visor on the front starts to flap quite worringly, might have to take it off and see what it is like without it, and what is drives like over 80mph. Anyway with all the family on board, 65mph seems just right.

Seems to be happy at 65 gps/70 indicated, with 1600tp, progressive 32/36 carb with smaller than supplied jets running cooler and more economical , twin quietpak exhaust. Overtaking at 75 .
Not always the slowest vehicle up hills.

i usually sit at 55 indicated and ocasionally creep up to 60-65, when running with sat nav last week i note that 50 was 47 and 60 was 57.

  14. 55mph for us and struggle on hills, dropping to 40 to 45mph.

We never drive with foot flat to the floor, just gently touching accelerator.

Engine is 1641 with twin webber 32's for reference

    Cheers

  15. of course Dubster has asked the right question. As with all vehicles it is not how fast they can go, but how do you like to drive, are you bothered about fuel consumption and so on. So with my 2L I find cruising on the Mway is best at around 60-65. Just fast enough to keep big trucks out of my engine bay and only a blip to pull out and overtake. I've had mine up to 80 and it seemed willing to do more but I wasn't. Of course that's speedo 80 so probably 75.
What's the hurry? Time passes slower in a bus. Enjoy.

I've voted 50, but 50-55 feels right. Maybe 60 on long motorway stretches.

It's not 'when you get there', it's 'how you get there' 8)
