What's the part called?

  1. Hi All
Had my carbs setup yesterday and Buzby is running fantastic. The only problem is I'm missing a part off my throttle bar, its the part that fits into the spring that locates onto the ball if you see what I mean. I can't find it with any of the main suppliers but there again i don't know what it's called. I have a 2.0 type 4 with dual solex carbs. I'd appreciate your help.

I don't think there is anything between the ball and spring, post a picture of it

  4. I seem to remember there being a a bit that went on the bar after the spring. Only a short bit that had a cup end to fit on the ball and the spring went inside it.
Of course I might be wrong though ?

  5. Not having a twin carb set up myself, I presume that's the bar between the carbs and the ball is fastened to the carb, I imagine the spring is there to keep a bit of tension on the bar to stop it slipping out of situe. It does look like there's something missing all the same.

  6. The guy who done my carbs says its a metal piece that's cone shaped with an indentation for the ball.

  9. Aha that's the piece, now we need to establish what it's called and where to get it? He did say they can be made of nylon too.

I don't know what it's called but if you get a good parts diagram I need the 2 foot long spring which goes from the bar up to the engine hatch to help close the throttle when you come off the gas.

It’s a ‘throttle kogelpin’ but ‘cross bar ball socket’ is possibly as better description, part number 021-129-957. I bought one from Serial Kombi in France a couple of years ago but I can’t find it on their website now, although it is listed as the part that goes with the spring. Paruzzi in the Netherlands sell them manufactured in brass. http://www.paruzzi.com/webstore/?klantauto=type2&zoektrefwoord=22189

  17. I couldn't find anyone who sold these.

So I made one out of a top from a felt-tipped pen. Measure the internal diameter of the bar, then get down to your local Rymans and be prepared for some funny looks if you take the vernier calipers!!

Works a treat though, I think it's important to be able to balance the carbs properly. Without it the bar doesn't sit centrally at the rhs.

  19. Also a toothpaste tube top will apparently do the job.
