What's happened to petrol?

  1. I can understand peoples concerns but realistically they have to offer blanket statements like this to cover themselves in a worst case scenario. Anything can be effected by anything! Remember the unleaded heads on aircooled engines debate years ago. Our vehicles are the least high tech on the roads, basically tractors with cute faces!

A specialist high performance car such as an old Aston might have issues but I dont think this will effect us as much? Rust is a bigger killer! You can buy the chemical tank treatment and sealant from Farts in Rochdale (Frost) which is fine but only do that if your tank requires attention from rust rather than alcohol?

These are 1930's designed engines! Imagine the quality of fuel they had then?

Dont worry just ensure your fuel lines are safe and keep a spare fuel pump. The diaghrams might fail but as I posted elsewhere the fuel pumps are from Brazil anyway and they run on pure booze for at least 15 years now? :)

  2. Mega LOL's

  3. Ethanol absorbs water out of the air, so your fuel tank will rust quicker, so a fuel tank coating like POR15 may help.
It also corrodes aluminium, I read in another forum the process is called washing, there was a suggestion that adding 1% 2 stroke oil prevents this
