Had the same thing in my beetle on the way to do a wedding. The AA were with me in 30 mins, cable had snapped near the carb , he had an extension on board, crimped it on , off I went. That was over 10 years ago the repair is still going strong .
If you're travelling to or from Teeside add a baseball bat to all the above Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Check! Yep got one of those too, carried under the passenger seat. Been deployed a couple of times too!
I've used a few bits along the way , clutch cable , accelerator cable , fan belt , nuts/bolts points etc etc , consumables I suppose. Recently the 'silicone rocker gasket fiasco' confirmed the need to carry oil and a couple of spare gaskets ... I only carry a very basic toolkit and bits I can fit myself to keep the van moving , @zedders once nearly bust a gut laughing at it but it's all I need for running repairs and servicing . Additionally I carry a small timing light and multimeter. Never needed recovery - yet ... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
I carry a large tyre lever within arms length , a bit more disceet and great for caliper removal ... (Officer) Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Or work in the rubber and plastics industry, that length of inch diameter rubber cord is just a sample for a customer officer
Got various spares stashed in the van. My problem is if i ever do need them is remembering where I put them. This problem also happens in the garage Starting to duplicate tools etc as I’ve forgotten when I’ve stored the one I bought a while ago. I know it’s an age thing frustrating though
Likewise I broke the accelerator cable in Bridlington. It was an easy fix with a piece of fence wire and got back to Sheffield. Driving with a broken clutch cable on another occasion was more interesting.
I had a puncture last year and had a spare wheel the original jack was a pile of Marmite and had to borrow a jack from one of the other guys at the marina ... the long winded way of saying yes.
