I had never even seen a standard VW jack until I bought my current bay and found one under the seat. Jacking points are solid so it's all I bring now. I've never, ever had a puncture in any car so I'm due one!
Having used the standard jack once, & I'll never use it again (it is downright scary) it is a bottle jack & lumps of timber for me.
I have a standard original jack stored in the garage, a slightly wonky halfords scissor jack in the bus and a high lift trolley jack at for real work. Some of the jacking points are crunchy because they rotted around the cool step fitted in the past.
I have a large trolley jack at home and original jack in the van, I don't know why I carry the original jack about as I don't have a spare wheel yet
I have just purchased a 4t bottle jack, I have a bit of decking and a lump of 7x3 joist in the van Thanks for all your input
I had the original jack but when i came to use it, it was next to useless as it kept slipping. I changed it for a bottle jack - managed to get a new one off ebay and when it came it was labelled volvo 10tonne - those Swedes were good for a thing or two! the original's now in a box in the garage!
