No, do you know when you have a tin of beans and no tin opener ,a bit like that... It`s pulsing petrol...
no I have both ends of the pump ,unfortunately I had to end my experiment early... Be back tomorrow to find the pulsing wire from the heater.... I noticed a mesh/gauze inside the spark plug ,does that catch on fire ? How come the fire does not go up the petrol pipe?
I think the gauze glows to keep the flame going (the glow plug should shut off once the flame is lit). I assume fuel pressure stops the flame going back down the pipe.
I am having trouble finding the thing[wires] that make the pump pulse ,could this be in the form of a clock[timer] in the vehicle?
The pump pulses, if you put the wire on and off the pump it will pump enough to get it running, there should be a switch on the fan that runs the pump, it may run the coil too
The pulse come from a set of points attached to the fan. When the fan spins it opens and Marmites the points. Every 20 rotations if my memory serves me right. It's worth finding these and cleaning/setting the gaps correctly.
Pump is`nt working... I did this instead So I pour petrol down and it reaches the gauze but does not catch on fire ? the plug is super glowing.. I am still having difficulty finding the points ,this thing has some sort of glass sensor on the end...Is this the points...? and where should it be pointing?
I can`t believe it travelled from the petrol tank to the heater and still squirted ,will try to source a new pump.... does anyone know what the black sensor thing is...
You need some pressure behind the fuel flow, which is what the metering pump does. As Zed said, it's not going to work without it. There are likely two or more temperature sensors, including an overheat switch...don't run it without them working!
