  1. First day on my Westy today cutting out the front end. (Well what was left of it.)

Having removed the complete front end I have found that the windscreen section has dissolved so that needs a new section, thankfully a new one is available.

More of a question - Where the air intake is (below the wipers) the lower section is damaged and I cant find anyone who sells a new section. Any thoughts? Has anyone repaired this before??

Has anyone got any thoughts on how to re build it. It seems their is not a replacement part for this section. :-(

    Thank you.

 bodycut? rather you than me.

  3. I'm with ricky!!

A body cut from an import is going to be the way to go!! You'll get the airbox, and a cut across the cab floor... so the whole front of the van!!

  6. WHS^. The repair on the intake is probably the easy bit, try matching up an inner and outer panel! I hope you have taken plenty of measurements and made reference points so the new panels end up in the right place? Good luck with the repair.

  7. Think I'll go with repairing rather than clip. If I get cutting that much out - it will never be seen again :)

I've found some photos tonight where the intake box is cut flat, new front panel fitted and they have then just filled in behind. I guess I could do the same but fabricate some metal rather than just using filler for that.

Does anyone know how to apply discounts on VWHeritage?

  8. Hey Alastair, Why not put a wanted ad up in the parts section? Somebody may have just replaced their front clip and could have a good airbox just awaiting the scrappy?

    Regards, Si

That sort of picture scares me as I know if/when I start on Ruby she will be as naked or worse.

The repair on your air box is very easy , an hour or 2 of work, no point making work you don't need to, also the air box and air intake are a very useful reference point for fitting a new front panel.

  11. Good point, cheers

  12. I thought i would be scared too, but really with so many sections available for it, its much easier to replace a panel than spend hours patching an existing one. Remind me that in 2 weeks time from here! LOL

  13. Hi Si. Great Idea! - Just done. Thank you.
