Weber 34 ict twin carbs - questions

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Grazzer, Feb 19, 2014.

  1. I've sold Winnie this week, but I won't sleep at night if I let her go with the crappy single Weber so I decided to fit a pair of 34 ict Webers with a CB performance linkage bought from Eurocarb so they are jetted right...
My question is this, I'm running an electric pump, would you advise a pressure regulator?

  2. There is a lot of debate on this. I run a filterking pressure regulator mounted on the firewall of the bay. I can see the fuel is clean and can guarantee that the pressure is correct. however, some people say you don't need one if you have a low pressure pump. They ICT's need no more than 3psi or they will over fuel. I bought an in line pressure gauge and was getting way too much pressure from my stock pump. It now has a facet posiflo, low pressure pump. So it depends upon which pump you have.

  3. Don't presume they're jetted correctly.

  4. Not quite sure which pump I have, but that's helpful - I'm always annoyed that the pump was running all the time, it never seemed to get up to pressure and back off like most if them - what pressure reg would you recommend? Filter king?

  5. Eurocarb guarantee they jet them properly, and I've used them before without any issues. JK and Heritage don't as a rule...

They can jet it to what the engine should need but not what it will need.

  13. anythings better than a repro solex ,yeah jets are easy ....so its no big deal !other than more flaffing with yet another relic of motoring ....

  14. Nothing is ever easy is it....:(

Or what you ask them to do. They just send you the carbs in the box without doing naff all even when given a detailed jetting spec.

  16. As Zed says. Mine were supposed to be jetted for my engine. Jets are totally different now and the emulsion tubes

  17. I agree, the jets were not what I was expecting!

I went to a great deal of trouble to spec the jets, they agreed to send them jetted as asked, then simply didn't bother. I rang and complained. They told me they were right and I was wrong. I said that's not the issue and I can't be bothered to get into an arguement about jetting so kindly send me what I asked for. To be fair they were very good and sent what I wanted without billing me, trusting me to return the others. When they arrived they were the right size jets but 2 were for another type of carbs. They then finally managed to send the right ones and I sent back the by now big bag of wrong jets. That could have been annoying if I'd been in a hurry.

The emulsion tubes fitted are the biggest problem as they'll flood your engine if you atempt to accelerate. How on earth they think they're ok is beyond me, but like JK it's "nobody's ever complained before" style customer service. Helpful, but disinterested and incompetent.
0/10 for effort, but I'll grudgingly give them 8/10 for after sale service. I managed to have a laugh with the bloke, but I suspect he'd have been an arse if I'd been arsey myself.

I thin k it's worth specifying the jetting in detail or you'll end up paying again for the jets, probably about another £50 on top which is avoidable with a bit of planning.

  20. My bargain pre-loved carbs haven't been quite as cheap as I hoped.
