Hi anyone selling a refurbished vw original carb complete?

hopefully someone on here can help you, if not there are one or two outfits who offer refurbed ones. I bought a refurbed Solex 34 pict3 from Kevin at Riverhaus. to replace the empi repro one on the van when I bought it.

van has run sweet ever since.

had a look on ebay for you and this genuine solex popped up. its very clean and been refurbed but the seller can't get it working. maybe its something simple causing the problem, selling as parts so should get it cheap.

they were alot cheaper than that when they were selling them at brighton breeze couple of yarz back , things have gone up i spose ?

Thanks for all replies. I have decided to buy a EMPI 34 Pict Carb from VW Heritage (about £160).

Read good reviews on Amazon (America) and hoping that as its sold by VW Heritage it will be decent quality and not a fake or rubbish quality like you could get from other source's. I guess time will tell I would like to have had an original VW refurbished but cant really afford the £300+ at the moment. Far to many T2 jobs to pay for!

What's up with yours? Empi? Er No. not a patch on the quality of the genuine item.

It is a bocar, I know it worked ok but may make a better basis for a rebuild than an Empi?

I'm no expert - however I stripped one similar to this in the summer and was stunned by the poor quality casting inside the unit. Pop the top cover off it and take a look and see what it's like. The one I stripped wasn't branded at all mind, but I'm guessing they are all coming from one place.

The jets inside it were all to cock, the choke unit very poor, the whole thing was an exercise in looking outwardly similar but utterly cack inside.

anything would be better than the EMPI repro which is awful imho. I dumped mine as it was poor and couldn't be tuned. that solex on ebay would be a better bet.
