A good mate of mine's parents sunk 10s if not 100s of £k into his tennis career. He was and still is a bloody good player. He regularly tells us what a massive waste of money it was, and that if your name isn't in with the LTA, you're effectively throwing good money after bad. Basically he says if you have to pay for yourself, you're probably not good enough. Make sure your lad is (or has the potential to be) before chasing that dream.
Suppose Whats his name? My friend Had a Massive failing out with the LTA over his Daughter his Son also plays and was world No1 in the Juniors.
I took my son 6 years to fencing club ,paying sub's ,paying for away meets etc He was'nt the best , but enjoyed it .. It is very hard for any young person to commit to a long term sports career... But reach for the stars.... btw one of my client's played tennis with lloyd'y ,he is very middle class ,but i creamed him at table tennis....(he is 70)
Andy, I really feel for you !! If your ever in the South call in for afternoon tea and a chat x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dear @SweeneyTodd One of the TLB members who will remain nameless want me to visit him on the south coast, he wants me to wear leather and I should bring Kleenex with me, I'm not that way inclined but I don't want to hurt his feelings, what should I do?
Ok, I understand fully how you feel.... what you must do is take him in hand & be firm, let him know how you feel but most of all let him down gently. Glad to be of service
My beard's white now! I worked yesterday and today for a better life for my wife and Son trying to get the misses to agree first week in Jan to La Manga Tennis academy for Junior Mon-Fri 32 hours of intensive training. Just want some purpose to my sons life these are the most important years of his life whatever the outcome at least we tried its not a pass or fail in my book and most important he didn't waste it on a xbox.
