We got sorted by some very nice chaps at Autohaus Model in Wiesenbach (near Blaufelden) who managed to source an old solenoid from their stock and rebuild it onto the new starter motor which was installed only a few weeks ago by local UK garage but I don't think it was not the right part. Also fitted new, thicker ground cable to the starter and new battery clamp - starting nicely now and doesn't keep spinning. (Also managed to get the clutch cable tightened in process.) Not cheapest fix but got a free night in a local hotel from breakdown cover too. Back on road and after day in Füssen to see the castle that inspired Disney, we're now in Austria in the middle of the Alps at a stunning campsite next to an alpine lake!
