Voltage regulator bypass

I have put the battery on charge to make sure it is as good as it can be but I would expect at least 14v from the alt right?

So is it likely to be the alternator?

 

I actually have more voltage when the engine isnt running

 

Driving me mad now! After a full day charging I stated the van, checked the voltage at the alt and the battery while running and only had 12.9v
Turned it off, disconnected the battery, checked the earth straps, cleaned a bit and re fitted, tested 12.6v
Added some load while running till it dropped further till it cut out and the van wouldn't start.

I dont think the alternator is doing its job

 

No it sounds stupid but is your battery ok tom ? Hope you and Emma are both well . Electrical / charging can be a pain I hate it ,it’s always something stupid .have you had alternator checked .

Its a brand new alternator and the battery was checked by halfrauds not long ago and was told it was fine!
I can't help but think iv been sold a dud alternator!
I just don't know what else to check!

 

Well have you got an auto leccy nearby who can check for you .? A battery cell can just go too .

I had the same problems 3yrs ago,an auto electrician reconditioned the alternator but had to change battery too
Battery still good but alternator just packed up,new one ordered today
