Viking owners - roof liner question!

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Dicky, Sep 3, 2013.

  1. Considered this myself and would love to have large openable mesh vents like westy or riviera - especially in hot weather its surprising how a cooling breeze makes such a massive difference. Have you any thoughts on design or got any ideas on costs yet?

  2. No probs mate. It should be back by the end of next week. All going well.

  3. I've got one of those proud to pop insulators for my rear hinged Westy and it is well made and works an absolute treat. I thought about making one but insulation that is wide enough is pretty expensive anyway so I went ahead and ordered it ready made and am delighted with it. I leave it on top of the upper bed when I drop the roof and it fits fine so takes no van space when we are out and about but is there when we need it.

  4. Horse blanket works well - as long as you dont suffer from nightmares.

    - only trouble is the horse takes up a lot of bunk space

  5. Thats interesting. any chance of a bit more of a review on that? Does it do what it says on the tine and have you any pics. How does it fit, is it a good fit, , easy to fit?

  6. yep, it fits easily, looks like it was made especially for my roof ( which it was). This is us camping in Edale in February nd we were warm as toast. The hookup and fan heater made the biggest contribution but the insulation kept the heat in really well, as in daughters took jumpers off and were wearing tee shirts etc.

  7. I got all excited then thinking youd got a viking roof. Whole different ball of wool as far as insulating em is concerned and about 3 times the surface area of a westy. None theless good to know they do actually help.

  8. the thing is a simple wrap around and has an elastic and hook which simply clips onto the other pointy end if you see what I mean. the lower edge sort of sits in the gutters and the upper one under the edge of the roof so its really secure , keeps the interior dark when its light outside, and cool in summer if you want to to.

The other things we have are JK window insulators and a wrap around cover for screen and cab doors from Bromsgrove Autotrimmers which is way better than the JK interior ones for the cab.

  9. This picture is making me feel cold!!

  10. We felt a bit guilty as there was a Duke of Edinburgh awards group camping in tents and huddling in the loos, putting all their layers on and trying to use the hand dryers to warm up and we run in wearing a tee shirt, jeans and flip flops.
