Sounds like fun to me.

I've drifted my van a couple of times... although a full 4 wheel drift coming off a round about on ice made me clench up a little

I would buy the JK set of roll bars, lower the van (as it also lowers the center of gravity) and fit some really good adjustable dampners... I've currently got AVO ones fitted, as you can order these to length that you need, as opposed to what the main vw suppliers have in on their shelf
The main reason for going adjustable, is so you can dial them in for the weight of your van, and your driving style... currently I have mine on the softest setting at the front, and the hardest for the rear (mainly as the engine is up back, along with the gearbox and the fuel tank... seems to work really well, so I've not fiddled more than that
Would you go for adjustables if you were going to keep your bus at stock height as I'll be doing?

stiffening the front bar will increase understeer and stiffening the rear will increase the oversteer

heres a piece i copied of the internet first thing i came to when i googled it was wikipedia and heres what it says

"Anti-roll bars provide two main functions. The first function is the reduction of body lean. The reduction of body lean is dependent on the total roll stiffness of the vehicle. Increasing the total roll stiffness of a vehicle does not change the steady state total load (weight) transfer from the inside wheels to the outside wheels, it only reduces body lean. The total lateral load transfer is determined by the CG height and track width.

The other function of anti-roll bars is to tune the handling balance of a car. Understeer or oversteer behavior can be tuned out by changing the proportion of the total roll stiffness that comes from the front and rear axles. Increasing the proportion of roll stiffness at the front will increase the proportion of the total load transfer that the front axle reacts and decrease the proportion that the rear axle reacts. This will cause the outer front wheel to run at a comparatively higher slip angle, and the outer rear wheel to run at a comparatively lower slip angle, which is an understeer effect. Increasing the proportion of roll stiffness at the rear axle will have the opposite effect and decrease understeer."

I think you've misinterpreted it fella... that ^^ confirms what i said...

stiffening just the front will create oversteer, and stiffening the rear will cause understeer... doing both at the same time will compliment each other, and increase the handling of the vehicle as it will be flatter through the corners (thus reducing oversteer and understeer at the same time)

i agree about keeping the body flatter as this keeps suspension geometry constant and thus maximum tyre contact , but i disagree with the other bit a stiffer front bar will increase understeer (hence why vw only fitted a front bar stock to make the van more controlable to most drivers in a slide) and a stiffer rear bar will increase understeer period. i have felt this first hand when one day i removed my front eibach roll bar to fit a large downpipe on my mk1 golf turbo but i left the uprated rear one on it caused a 70mph spin out mid bend on a my local bypass ;D had to go home and change my pants after that one ;D

dont the bars come with a set of uprated dampers?
if you leaving your van at stock hight uprated fixed damping dampers will be fine

I don't think roll bars come with uprated dampners tho, but I would be putting something a bit firmer than stock on if you're putting the HD roll bars on as it'll help with the cornering
