WANTED Type 4 enginey bits!

My engine was knocking like mad, so I pulled it out & my mate at the garage opposite mine stripped it doon & found this,









So apparently I need;

Crankshaft
Camshaft
Pistons
& possibly heads??

Oh, it's a GD code 2.0 type 4 motor that used to be fuel injected but now has a single carb instead.

What yous got???

 

I very much doubt that you need a new crank... A regrind should get you up and running again... But it all depends on the journal measurement!!

Everything else I would buy new!!

 

How do you know you need a cam if it's not out yet?

Cam & crank are both out now, case is split & I'm trying to get it all clean!!
I'm taking advice from my mate who helps with most my mechanical stuff as I'm defo not a mechanic!!!!!

 

Any idea what caused it?

Was the Big end cap loose?

Rubbish bearing shells

 

The engine was lying in cargo area of the bus when I bought it 2 years ago, so I know nothing of its history!!
So your guess is as good as mine
