  1. hi new to site and new to owing a bus recently brought a 77 2l ,looking at replacing the engine ,any advise thank

  2. what do want to change it to, standard 1600 flat 4, a 1641, what you got at the moment, and why do you want to change it, a 77 has it got the suitcase engine?

  3. new to the seen it has 2l cj engine being molested many bits missing ,removed it for strip down looking for a bit guidence .

  4. the 2 l cj engines are quite a nippy bit of kit, and i would stick with it, if you have the funds to get it running, I'm sure others will be along to pass on there comments, Be careful were you get parts from, and if you go for a new engine go to reputable suplier, zed gone a souped up one from laurie p. As I believe but they aint cheap. Ebay is another option, for a complete engine, but then your taking a chance.
Welcome to the van scene, i have a standard 1600 in mine

first thing to do is get it running, don't throw money at repairs until you need to, engines aren't cheap to rebuild if yours is good leave it alone. what do you think it missing?

Try and get it running, in or out of the bus and go from there. You'll find plenty of help on here. Just keep asking questions :)

  11. That aside, stick with the 2l, it is so much better than the 1600 in so many ways!!

Take some pics of the engine, and we'll help you with what's missing/ you need to look for!!

  12. Dismantle your existing engine (or find someone who can) and fix it up. No need to chuck it away.
