    Dizzy...
    Alternator & Fan Housing

  3. Coils are quite handy too. Worth checking on exhaust port shape too to see what heat exchangers are needed. They changed in 1978 but it depends on whether the heads are new as they may not match the year of the van. Flywheel diameter changes over the years also.

  14. This looks like a T 25 2 litre (?) motor looking at the breather. If its going into a late bay (which I assume it would be then obviously)
a full set of tinware (can list if you want but it possibly wouldn’t mean owt.
    Fan
    Fanshroud with cooling flaps
    Engine bar
    Thermostat and cable
Heat exchangers (if it is a T25 motor then late bay ones are what you want)#
    Exhaust and tailpipe
    Alternator and bracketry
Left and right heat risers from heat exchangers
    Heater elbows and control boxes
    Flywheel, Clutch
Possibly gearbox depending on what box and bellhousing are fitted
    Starter
    Distributor, coil and leads
Oil filler tube, filler and cap, dipstick bellows and dipstick
    Voltage regulator
    Fan blower and cardboard tubes
    Rocker covers
    Tin to body foam seal

You could do with comparing it against the finished item in a Haynes manual or similr or have a browse on “Ratwell”.
    Whats the engine code?

  16. i've got most of the tin bits + front fan casing, fan, engine bar and chassis brackets, a zorst but no exchangers. Will all need painting/powdercoating but they're all solid and rust free
    :)

  19. I wouldn't, a top end rebuild only rebuild? Where are all the tins? Its already been reworked in the past (VW remanufacture logo next to the engine code) I'd pay £300 tops and expect to do a complete rebuild. Those carbs look like they've been used on an engine for a long time not sat in a box brand new for 3 years - unless the box was open and on a shelf at the docks exposed to sea air...

    Or you could be lucky.
    :)

Methinks the seller is being rather economical with the truth saying it came from a bay window. I may well have done, but it maybe shouldn't have been there in the first place! From reading it appears Cu engines were fitted to bays in 79 only, and I bet that ain't one of them. Mind you if it goes cheap might be worth it for the heads/carbs. But we only have the sellers description and he seems a bit iffy to me.
