No idea about your area mate but if you were prepared to put it on a pallet, Paul weeding on here might have a look at it or maybe contact Laurie Petit (google him).
So where do we stand in money terms, rebuild existing engine or get a recon one? Just interested as whilst our cj engine is running well with no excess oil consumption, one day it will need some work
Generally I can rebuild a type 4 for less than you can buy a recon unit... obviously some situations means that it might be more, but I rebuild the engines based on what they need, and not what I can get away with doing at the bare minimum
Plus if you're a bit geeky about originality (like me on some things) you get back your engine, and not one that isn't!! Believe it or not, a lot of people want and like that!!
Rebuild has got to be the way to go as you have a named person you can talk to rebuilding your engine and so you get details of what's up with it, what it needs etc. and it comes back as a solid, known quantity. The pallet thing is pretty easy too and cost me £70 from memory when I got mine done. Total bill was way less than a recon too. Also if you fancy some upgraded bits and more oomph then that can be built in too.
