WANTED Type 4 Alternator Bracket

That looks like a T25 one to me...

I have a template, just deciding how to fab it.

 

Quite a complicated thing to make for what it is? Considering also how awkward they are to tension adequately without destroying something else nearby, how about a complete redesign with threaded type adjuster?

It's technically a dual purpose bracket... alt adjuster, and exhaust support...

 

I copied it using a piece of stainless angle .... Spark eroded the curved slot ...exact copy

 

And as you know, there's one on t'other side as well, but I think I've only ever seen one!

 

How does it support exhaust ? Does it not bolt to the HX and alt other end ?

 

It supports the exhaust by bolting to the HX.... Essentially it reduces the vibration that causes exhaust gasket failure

 

Engine block on one end and heat exchanger on the other with the alt. in the slot.

 

Good thinking, I'll get my spark eroder out next time I need to make one.

 

The slot can be milled out reasonably easily I'd have thought.

 

It's curved so would CNC milling or a rotary table on a Bridgeport

 

Yep your right I forgot about the bolt hole in the top ... I. Guess that's why they fail due to vibration

Youve seen two now! Mislaid it when I fitted last silencer. Needs a clean before it goes back on.
