  1. Jealous of your twin slider!!!
Looks like you're cracking on with it well though, its looking good
Wish I had someone to do all my welding for me.... haha.
Keep it up mate, and keep the pics coming!
    Good luck :)

  2. Cheers mate
She's getting there bit by bit haha.
I am really lucky that I have my cousin Doing the welding for me, obviously I am paying him but it's nothing compared to what I would be paying elsewhere. The main thing is I trust him and I know that everything is being done properly
Also I'm learning shed loads along the way so it's a win win, The only down side is I get all the Marmite jobs haha.

  3. yeah man, its great to know everythings being done properly! especially if your not paying extortionate amounts for the privilege
and any chance to learn is a winner in my book. I really need to get on with mine again..

  4. Exactly....need to learn as much as possible to save money on future projects
Is yours the one in your profile pic? Is it a full on project or a rolling one?

  8. We had ago at seat slamming tonight
Iv seen a few tubbed buses that have kept the original seats but trimmed them down abit so that was the plan! The main problem is that the original tubs step down to allow for the back rest adjustment on the drivers seat...the raised tubs are completely flat meaning that the seat is miles to high!! I noticed that most people do away with the back adjustment and trim the springs to sit it flat on the tub!
We decided we would have ago at trimming it down but keeping it fully adjustable! We trimmed the springs just over an inch to compensate for the height of the tub and then we cut out the back adjustment and raised it up so it's now sitting inside the base rather than below it meaning the seat can sit on its runners flat down on the tub now!
    Here's a couple of pics

  9. Very cool

My first van was going to be a twin slider but ended up buying a different one, but i did plan my interior out.
I was going to make traditional type units and have them in front of the spare slider and have my gas water and some other storage accessible behind via opening the spare door up, also would be nicer cooking with the door open behind it all

  10. Cheers buddy
I was thinking of a similar layout but I have decided to keep both doors accessible as I really like the idea of having an awning one side and being able to use the other door rather than going through the awning. Will be ideal if anyone's sleeping in the awning and I need to get out for a midnight toilet dash! Then again I could get a 2nd awning and use that as an en suite haha

  11. Cool, that would be pretty good camping set up, twin matching awnings

  12. another well over due update.
Slowly but surely the bus is becoming lovely and solid
I forget everything that has been done between updates but every wednesday is project night so its constantly moving forward. My cousin is doing an amazing job with the welding. Im still cutting out and prepping etc etc ready for wednesday night when he comes round to weld.
Anyway heres a few pics to show some progress.

This is the underside of a tub, both tubs have been seam welded all the way round on the top side in the cab and then as you can see in the pic we have made over lapping plates that have also been seam welded all the way around the whole tub on the underside so these puppys are well and truly in there! (i haven't finished grinding them down in this pic)

I have also made a plate the same size that has now been welded to the inside of the chassis as well so we have well and truly put more metal back in than what we cut out.
next job is to weld in some seat mounts and the seat runners, then get the beam in and built so we can get it back on its wheels again!

  13. Fitted the drivers seat today!!
Raised the inner runner using some box section and then trimmed the outer runner down and welded it to the tub.
Pretty pleased with the outcome. Slides as it should and the back rest adjusts as it should but it's roughly 2" shorter to acomidate for the tub being raised.
I have also stripped down the passenger bench as that also needed the lower bar cutting and re welding slightly higher to fit on the tub and it needed the springs re locating etc which was fun lol

  15. Unfortunately he doesn't have his own garage, he's an mot tester in pevensey and west ham. He used to restore cars with his dad years ago but he's been thinking about starting up on his own so he can get back into Restos.
Do you need some work doing?

  16. just wondered as i used to live in eastbourne and come down quite a bit if ever i did ?

  17. No worries, give us a shout if/when you need any welding etc as he might end up opening a garage in the area, or depending on what it is he might be Interested in doing it on a weekend maybe.
