WANTED Twin Carb Setup

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by Luke Atkinson, Sep 1, 2015.

  1. Indeed Steve..... Very much soo, have 2 engines I'm building..... Mine & my mates.....

(Plus the guy wasn't taking any less)......

  2. Thanks Steve..... Looking forward to fitting these..... Going to sort my centre mounted one to my fiends

  3. Hey Steve......
Know you've sent the carbs out now..... Off top of your head can you recall what chokes & valves were running in the 36's??
Wanna see if/what I need to order from Eurocarb......
Hope your week is going well
    Luke

  4. There are no chokes ....I have 32 s somewhere but you want 28s I would have thought ?
In the box are 175 tall airs which will be fine and I think a set of main jets ,again not sure of size but I have a few other size sets depending on your engine requirements ....give me a shout before ordering mains if the ones are not suitable ...there are also no emulsion tubes as the ones I have are the wrong ones .....maybe you can solder up some of the holes if you want them ...check but I think you want the .2 's and these are maybe .3's .

I don't know what idle jet sizes are in there either ...

Should be with you tomorrow anyway

Have you worked out what you need for engine size ? As in vents ,mains ,idles etc

  5. This is what Dellorto suggest on those carbs

  6. do you have the `Dell book .....? i`ll agree 28 vents but the dell book says 55 idle and your mains that eurocarb suggest are small ... i think i went through 5 sets of mains untill she drove nice

  7. I will look I the Dell Book as its in the workshop....
Eurocarb has said this was the set up for a torquey engine rather than a revvy engine....
I'll get my nose in the book & check & decide....
    Thanks for your help Steve.....
    I'll get these running soon

  8. lots of people start (like me )with what eurocarb suggest then change it when it doesn`t run ......

    Luke Atkinson likes this.
  9. Indeed.....
It's all trial & error really, but if I change the engine from a 1641 to a 1760 I'll need to change the setup again anyway..... Lol
Let me get them, clean them up & see what way I'll go with the book as reference & tweak as we go.....
    Cheers again mate

  10. A great thread to read how someone has helped someone out! Awesome.
Now I will get back to searching for some twin carbs (40's) for my crew cab

Luke Atkinson and vanorak like this.
  11. also...send @zed a PM...he may have a range of jets he'd part with

  12. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

They're mine, all mine I tell yer!
I have a nice range of chokes and jets to play with - I spent more on those than the carbs.
That depends on what sort of 1776 you build. If you changed the vents - bigger vents = bigger jets. It doesn't seem to matter too much what size engine is sucking air through it.
    I'd guess 130 - 135 for the mains.
